In Tibetan culture,
The rainbow arises not only from the transformation of light,
But is also believed to be threads of color blown by the wind,
Often foretelling the arrival of a moment of perfection.

1. Washing

• Hand wash is preferred: Yak wool fibers are soft yet durable, so hand washing is recommended. Use lukewarm water and a mild detergent (such as one specifically designed for yak wool or wool in general) to gently clean the garment.
• Machine washing considerations: If you use a washing machine, select the cold water gentle cycle and place the yak wool garment in a laundry bag to reduce the risk of abrasion.
• Avoid vigorous rubbing: Avoid rubbing the fabric too hard during washing to prevent pilling or damaging the fibers.

2. Drying

• Lay flat to dry: Avoid hanging the garment to dry, as yak wool can stretch out of shape due to its weight. Instead, lay the garment flat on a clean towel and let it air dry in a cool, shaded area.
• Avoid direct sunlight: Direct sunlight can make yak wool brittle, so it’s best to dry it out of direct sun.

3. Storage

• Keep dry: Ensure the yak wool garment is completely dry before storing it to prevent mold and mildew.
• Moth prevention: Use moth repellents or lavender sachets in your wardrobe, as yak wool, like other natural fibers, is susceptible to moth damage.

4. De-Wrinkling

• Low-temperature ironing: If necessary, use a steam iron or a low-temperature setting to gently press the yak wool garment. It’s advisable to place a damp cloth between the iron and the fabric to protect the fibers.
• Steam to remove wrinkles: For light wrinkles, hanging the garment in a bathroom with steam can help naturally relax the fibers.

5. Removing Pills

• Use a fabric shaver: Yak wool garments may develop pills over time. Use a fabric shaver or pilling comb to gently remove them and maintain the garment’s appearance.
