Charu comes from the Tibetan word ཆ་རུ།, meaning "to connect."It is also the name of a small wooden fastener used on traditional black tents of nomadic communities. Under Charu are several independent brands:
Yitso, inspired by Himalayan jewellery traditions; Sayol, dedicated to plateau carpets; Thathaly, focused on knitwear; and Saso, centered on black pottery.

Through fair trade, we support livelihoods rooted in pastoral culture. Through local museums, we help preserve cultural traditions at risk of disappearing. Through storytelling and media, we share voices that are often overlooked. Our work is modest, but our commitment to this place remains. We are not one, but millions.
